Bishopwearmouth horticultural nursery
Bishopwearmouth Horticultural Nursery is a single focus day service that provides up to 25 learning and vocational training opportunities through horticulture each day to people who have a learning and / or physical disability.
With the support of trained staff, people are offered a wide choice of horticultural and training activities, following an assessment of need by their care manager, such as:
- Seed sowing
- Plant propagation
- Potting
- General horticultural works
- Soft landscaping and floral art
- Health and Safety
- First aid
- General operational procedures
- Level One Horticulture Skills Certificate 9352 (introduction to NVQ)
- NVQ Level One and Two in Horticulture
Bishopwearmouth Horticultural Nursery also provides a supportive environment where people can relax, socialise and develop friendships, enabling people not only to gain new interests but also to share experiences with others.
The nursery also helps people integrate into the wider community by undertaking a number of community projects, maintenance contracts and landscaping operations within Sunderland as well as providing floral displays for civic and departmental events.
