Leadership blog - 28.01.19
In this blog, the Deputy Leader speaks about the exciting developments on the former Vaux site.
The Leader recently invited the media to have a look at the Beam, the first office block on the Vaux site which is nearing completion.
It's such a fantastic and important milestone in the regeneration of the city centre and the fact that we have real interest from businesses to move in as soon as it's ready makes it even more exciting.
It signals that businesses see Sunderland and the city centre as a great place to be. We're a city by the sea with so much to offer and the building itself provides high-quality, bright, airy office space in the heart of the city centre. There is also space on the ground floor for a bar, café and restaurant overlooking the river and plans for the development of the rest of the Vaux site are just as exciting.
The five storey Beam follows Northern Spire as another landmark development in Sunderland's economic regeneration. The buzz and momentum continue to build and with the recently launched Sunderland City 5k, which will start and finish on Northern Spire and the 10k and half marathon runs all in May, it's going to be a great 2019!
