Operator licence

To become a Private Hire Operator you must have premises which has the benefit of current planning permission for use as a private hire booking office.  Before making an application you should read the operator conditions (pdf).

Download and complete an application form (pdf) which includes a declaration to be completed by a Solicitor or Commissioner for Oaths.

You must also prove you have the right to work in the UK and be able to provide original evidence to support this.

The Home Office, via the UK Border Agency, has compiled a list of documents (pdf) which prove someone has the right to remain and work in the UK.

When completed, the form must be returned in person to the Licensing Section and the appropriate fee paid, dependent on the amount of vehicles to be operated, after which a licence will be issued.
