Pensions and payroll service
It was implemented earlier this year and is currently used by more than 4000 people. Paper payslips are now only issued in exceptional circumstances where the employee cannot use the portal e.g. as they do not have any access to the internet at home or work.
The Payslip Portal is fully secure, and the employee can access the Payslip Portal from either a work or their own device (PC, mobile phone or tablet). To register and activate an account only takes a few minutes and employees can opt to receive email alerts when a new payslip is available and be self-sufficient with password resets. Payslips from April 2019 and P60s for the tax year 2018-19 will be available, data will be retained on the portal for up to seven years and leavers will retain access for 12 months.
If you have not already done so, please email payroll.pensionstech@sunderland.gov.uk to confirm that you would like your school employees to have their payslips delivered by the Payslip Portal. All information that your staff need to register and use the portal will be provided and support can be given via a telephone helpline if required. We recommend that when your school moves over onto the portal your employees receive paper payslips for two months to give them time to register. After this period paper payslips will only be issued to those employees who cannot use the portal. The Payslip Portal is included in your current Payroll and Pensions Service Level Agreement, and the expectation is that all employees will use it unless there are exceptional circumstances preventing them from doing so.
