G.O.! Get Online ICT recycling scheme

Sunderland City Council has partnered with Protech City to offer low-cost computer equipment to registered charities that are members of the VCS Area Networks under the G.O.! Get Online Scheme.

How to donate

Organisations

A number of Sunderland City Council owned desktops and laptops are replaced each year to ensure they are technically up to date and perform well. Some of these devices are suitable for reuse, and could be offered through this scheme.  

Through the Council's Community Wealth Strategy, other public and private sector partners are able to donate their own desktops and laptops to the GO! Get Online Scheme. If your organisation would like to find out more about donating devices, as part of your Corporate Social Responsibility, email the team on smartcity@sunderland.gov.uk 

People

Sunderland residents can donate devices as well, we want the whole city of Sunderland to support the GO! Get Online Tech Appeal. You just need to book a slot at one of the G.O.! Get Online donation points, pop along with the kit, and Protech will collect it, wipe it clean, restore factory settings and install Microsoft Office 2010, then send it on to its new home.

What equipment can charities buy?

Desktops, laptops and tablets are a flat fee of £120 (inc VAT). Desktops and laptops come with genuine Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Business software and a Windows 10 operating system that includes anti-virus.

Projectors are also available, but no warranty is offered. Instead, Protech have checked the device works and will supply a power and display cable for £48 (inc VAT).

What organisations need to be considered for GO! Get Online equipment?

To be eligible you need to use the equipment to: 

• Help residents get online by providing access to IT equipment and support them to access free internet access in community buildings or support them in accessing broadband at home
• Provide support to residents to improve their digital skills
• Assist the organisation to run more effectively
