What is isolation?

Self-isolation is different to lockdown. If you are self-isolating because you have tested positive or are a close contact or a household contact, you must not leave your home because you have or might have coronavirus (COVID-19).

There are four main reasons you need to isolate:

1. You have symptoms (NHS Covid-19 symptom checker). Book a test - or call 119

2. You have tested positive for COVID-19

3. You have been identified as a close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19

4. Someone in your household has tested positive for COVID-19
