Inns of Bishopwearmouth

Bishopwearmouth contains number of historic pubs, past and present. These include everything from purpose-built pubs to conversions, lost and forgotten pubs, and listed buildings.

In 2022 we worked with TDR Heritage and a group of local volunteers to uncover more about these amazing spaces, from who worked there, changes to the buildings over time, historic images and local memories. Our volunteers looked at census returns, trade directories and newspaper articles as part of their research and helped to pull together a timeline for each building.
