Switch-On kicks off Christmas in Sunderland
Black Cats stars Wilson Isidor, Chris Rigg, Aaron Connolly, Eleanor Dale and Ellen Jones helped Sunderland kick off its official start to Christmas.
The SAFC players joined the Mayor of Sunderland Cllr Allison Chisnall, panto stars and Hits Radio's Steve and Karen to turn on the Christmas lights in Keel Square.
Emmerdale's Matthew Wolfenden, Miss Rory and Tom Whalley, who are starring in this year's Jack and the Beanstalk panto at the Sunderland Empire, also took part in the Sunderland Christmas Switch-On.
A firm favourite in the city's events calendar, the switch-on traditionally kicks off the festive season in Sunderland.
The Mayor, Councillor Chisnall, said: "The annual Christmas Switch-On marks the start of the city's countdown to the big day. It's something that families from across Sunderland and beyond really look forward to each year.
"It was wonderful to see so many people braving the bitter temperatures to enjoy the Christmas Switch-On. And I'm delighted that the Blacks Cats players and panto stars were able to join us to make the evening even more special for everyone who came along. It's always great to see them supporting events in the city."
The Christmas Switch-On was organised by Sunderland City Council and supported by Sunderland BID and Hits Radio (formerly Metro Radio).
