Specialised equipment
There are different types of equipment available to support your care needs at home. In this section we will provide information on different types of equipment that can be provided by the Council and how you can access this service.
Find equipment online
You can work out what equipment would make your life easier by using the AskSara website. It will ask you a few questions to determine your needs and then suggest equipment that could help you.
AskSara also shows you where you can buy the equipment.
You can also find companies who you can purchase equipment from on Sunderland Information Point.
Get an assessment from us
If your needs are a bit more complex, we can carry out an assessment to work out what equipment would help you by asking you a few questions. Whether it's a smaller item like a grab rail, perching stool or chair raiser - or something bigger - we'll work out the best thing for you.
We will use the information you give us to help us meet your needs. Find out how we use your information in adult social care.
Home Adaptations and Help to Remain at Home
The Home Improvement Agency aims to enable those in need of support to maintain their independence in their chosen home for the foreseeable future. Services include minor or major adaptations to the home, the Handyperson's Service for smaller jobs around the home and advice on how to access funding to improve the standard of your home or keep it warm.
For further information on this you can contact Sunderland Care and Support.
Returning equipment
If you have already received equipment from us and you no longer need it or it needs a repair, you can arrange this by contacting Community Equipment Services.
