Mayor's fundraising

Another important role of the Mayor, a one the Mayor is always very passionate about, is to support a few local good causes.

Each year the Mayor promotes his chosen charities and good causes and raises funds for them by hosting charity events throughout his year in office.

During the Mayors year in office he is supporting Hug in a Bag breast cancer charity and The Special Lioness who support families with disabled children.

Due to the impact of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) and adhering to current Government and Public Health guidelines external Mayoral events are currently restricted to virtual events only.

Upcoming Civic Virtual Celebrations:

Dates to be confirmed soon.

To make a donation to the Mayor's Charities and Good Causes:

By debit or credit card via Sunderland City Council website, or via cheque made payable to the 'Sunderland City Council' and posted to the Mayor's Office, Civic Centre, Burdon Road, Sunderland, SR2 7DN.

The funds will be distributed between the chosen charities at the end of the Mayor's term in office.

Last year's Mayor Cllr David Snowdon raised £10,000.00 for Veterans in Crisis and Washington Mind. To have raised this much money in the short amount of time he had before Covid-19 restrictions came into action causing every planned event in the council diary to be cancelled is phenomenal. Well done Cllr Snowdon.
