Key milestones
With some preparation works programmed for earlier, the main construction works started in Spring 2019. The road will be fully open to traffic in Autumn 2021.

| Winter 2019 | Contractor announced |
| Winter 2019 | Secretary of State decision |
| Summer 2018 | Limited enabling works commence on site including demolitions |
| Summer 2018 | Invitations to tender for construction works |
| Summer 2018 | Public Inquiry |
| Autumn 2017 | Planning permission granted |
| January 2017 | Detailed design commences |
| January 2017 | Planning application made |
| November 2016 | Council Cabinet approve the design layout |
| May 2016 | Public consultation |
| August 2015 | Data collection and preliminary design commenced |
| July 2015 | Design consultants appointed |
| January 2015 | Consultation with potentially affected land interests begun |
| September 2014 | Delivery of Phase 3 gains council Cabinet approval |
| 2007 | SSTC route included in Alteration 2 of Unitary Development Plan |
