• You must fill in the application as accurately and as honestly as you can so we can carry out the assessment correctly

• If you are applying for a loan, please confirm that you have contacted your Mortgage Company and that they are willing to accept a second charge against the property.

Data Protection, Privacy Notification and Counter Fraud

As the data controller, Sunderland City Council needs to collect certain information from you so that we can agree with you the services you might need and who might provide them for you. We store this information securely on both our IT network environment and in written case records and we use it to carry out an assessment of what you need.

Our lawful basis is from Article 6(1)(b) of the UK General Data Protection Regulation - processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which you as the ‘data subject’ is party, or in order to take steps at your prior to entering into the contract. The contract in this case is your application to the Financial Assistance Programme.

We keep this information safe and for just as long as we need it. We don’t give it to anyone else without your agreement unless the law requires or allows us to do so.

We may need to contact other organisations, and/or other areas within Sunderland City Council to ask them to provide you with the services you need or to get more information about you to progress your application.

So that we can do this we need to pass information to them about you and our contact with you to achieve the objectives of the Agreement. You are entitled to ask us to respect your wishes if there may be certain people or organisations you don’t want us to approach. Just say if this is the case and we will do our best to respect your wishes but remember that this will make it more difficult for us to help you comply with your obligations under this Agreement.

This authority is under a duty to protect the public funds it administers, and to this end may use the information you have provided for the prevention and detection of fraud. It may also share the information with other bodies responsible for auditing or administering public funds for these purposes.

You have the right to request access to your personal data, request it to be corrected if proven inaccurate, and request restriction or erasure of your personal data under certain conditions.
