Sunderland College - Money Essentials

Who is this course for?

This course is for 19+ adults who would like to develop their everyday maths skills. It will support you to understand the current financial climate, looking at household finances and budgeting whist developing your maths skills.

What will I learn on the course?

• Household budgeting - what does this include?
• Needs versus wants - what are they?
• Managing your own money 
• Can you save on money essentials? 
• Food shopping - are you really saving money?
• Utilities - how much is it costing you? Is your bill correct?

How will I learn?

Your tutor will use a range of activities, discussions and tasks to help you to develop your maths skills and recognise value for money offers on the high street. The sessions will be delivered in a relaxed and friendly environment where you will meet other students who are also developing their maths skills. There is no formal assessment or exam.

What next, after the course?

You will be able to progress onto further maths qualifications.
