Sunderland College - Family Learning Preparing for SATs

Who is this course for?

This course will give parents the opportunity to improve their maths skills and become more confident with numbers. It will focus on the methods used in schools today to enable you to support your children at home.

What will I learn on the course?

  • Calculation methods, used in school to solve problems
  • Fractions, decimals, and percentages
  • Shape, space and measures
  • Data, statistics and probability
  • SATs preparation - how can parents help to support their children?

How will I learn?

Your tutor will use a range of activities, discussions and tasks to help you to develop your maths skills so you can help your children prepare for SATs. The sessions will be delivered in a relaxed and friendly environment where you will meet other students who are also developing their maths skills. There is no formal assessment or exam.

What next, after the course?

You will be able to progress onto further maths qualifications.
