We'ar Shining a light reporter's and Ageing well Ambassadors VIPs at launch event for NEW Washington Well-being Hub
On Wednesday 17th January 2024, the exciting new project which will be delivered by Active Families North East, the Washington Well-being Hub. Reporter and Ageing well ambassadors were send VIP invitation to attend.
The Mayor of Sunderland opened the new hub and said "As a Washington Councilor, I am delighted to be asked to open this project. Active Families North East have been delivering services to resident's city wide since 2017 and it's wonderful to see new services opening in the Washington area and it's fantastic that the Millennium Centre has been chosen to be the first to benefit from a new project of this kind."
This project has been made possible thanks to support from a range of partners working collaboratively and funding provided by Sunderland City Council Links for Life programme.
The Washington Well-being Hub will provide a range of health and well-being activities for residents. Examples of these include Weight Management, Pilates, Escape Pain - Backs, Bowls 4 Health and much more!
The Hub will provide a place for residents to connect, socialise, create friendships, receive additional support whilst also being able to take part in activities helping them to become happier and healthier and reduce social isolation. The kettle will be on after every class so residents can stay and have a chat with the friendly staff team.
Active Families are committed to making the Hub inclusive and accessible for all, ensuring that services provided contribute to preventing and improving health outcomes for residents within the Washington area and increasing levels of community resilience.
